Solvay undertook a significant expansion of its thermoplastic composites capacity and capability at its Advanced Materials manufacturing facility in Piedmont, South Carolina. The project encompassed various aspects, including the expansion of the facility and infrastructure, installation of composites process equipment, and the construction of a new Thermally Impregnated Fiber (TIF) production line. The TIF line was designed to produce a high-quality unidirectional tape product, utilizing a PVDF pre-impregnated carbon fiber resin system known as Evolite 1050 and Evolite 3050. A new manufacturing building was constructed to accommodate the production line and housed Slurry Process Units, TIF lines, slitter/rewind equipment, warehousing facilities, and other supporting infrastructure. PegasusTSI played a vital role in the project, providing detailed design, permitting support, procurement assistance, and construction management services throughout the construction and commissioning phases of the project.
